@realDLANC is holding a special meeting tomorrow, Thurs. Oct 29th to try and request "an ENFORCED [sic] nighttime curfew" for DTLA beginning on Nov. 3rd. until the election is "decided". This is unhinged.

@DotKohlhaas @ACLUSoCal @LACANetwork @lapovertydept
Considering the lines we saw at polling places in March any "nighttime" curfew would likely go into effect BEFORE THE POLLS CLOSE ON ELECTION DAY.

That the board members of @realDLANC can't anticipate or don't care that their request will lockdown their district before people finish voting on election day shows how half-baked and reactionary this idea is.
One DLANC board member @ResidentDirDTLA has already sent her own letter to @MayorOfLA @kdeleon @LAPDChiefMoore and others calling for a lockdown. She asked for a 9:30 PM start on Nov. 3rd, which would absolutely catch people still in line to vote, and a 5 day duration!!!
This would also preemptively ban any nighttime political protests in the civic core of LA. Pretty terrible for any NC to advocate for this sort of thing, but completely in character for @realDLANC which has routinely used fear mongering to attack and delegitimize protests.
They also call for additional law enforcement presence which has only led to brutality and violence in DTLA as seen in the savage LAPD response to peaceful protest throughout this year and celebrations after the Lakers' and Dodgers' recent championships.
@kdeleon @MayorOfLA You need to denounce this.
Please spread the word to any org or person who values their right to peacefully assemble and protest, to call in and oppose this. @DSA_LosAngeles @PplsCityCouncil @KtownforAll @LATACO @boreskes @LANCWatch1 @KNOCKdotLA @UnrigLA @GroundGameLA @AlpertReyes
Call in and let @realDLANC where they can send their curfew request, both on behalf of us residents of Downtown and the entire City of LA.
