When we mixed the soil at our micros, we made the same mix for home, and my much-awaited PPL facility.

The PPL is a little 10-lighter, with far fewer plants (32 + veg) than the licence will allow (200+).

This is a way to grow/smoke product (sort of) associated with our micros.
One of the major issues with federal regs is the inability of the "master" grower to sample the goods for quality control purposes.

Currently, it expected that no one smoke test the product prior to release.

Of course consumer quality suffers if they are the first to smoke it.
We have received updates from HC, talked to colleagues, and the current solution is to apply for a R&D licence.

What an inefficiency.

Consumption would be restricted to specific sites, it is an extra fee, it requires a security plan, and is a big, superfluous pain in the ass.
Right now we plan to apply anyway.

But...we also have a not-in-use plan where 7g/batch is set aside with retained/lab samples, released to the MG when it clears, who is then be responsible for filling out a QC report for release.

With proper SOPs, this seems like a no-brainer.
The thing is, 7g can't be diverted for profit. Everything would be tracked. Excise is only a few bucks, and we could even pay that.

Self-administration seems to be a hangup, too, even though I can buy the same product at retail and self-administer, so it isn't about safety.
Anyway, my point is this has to change.

I tried setting up a PPL, but who knows when that will land, and it isn't the same batch as the micros.

Plus, selecting new genetics is unreasonable without R&D or a PPL.

Chefs and winemakers taste. @GovCanHealth you should let us, too.
And yes, I fully intend to put together a pitch to the regulator around this idea, and I believe others have done similar already.

I think it is a hallmark of small, crafty product that the grower gave it the thumbs up, and I know this step is important for real QC.
