A new fintech company called me for a social media job. Didn’t even introduce himself. That’s still ok but then he went on to say ‘what can you do? You know, social media is like nothing. Just posts right. You know what I mean?’ What do you think about this?
The moment he said social media is JUST posts I wanted to end the call. It was insulting and confusing because why are they even looking for someone if they think it’s not really that important to their business and at the same time insult the profession?
So I continued to listen. It was clear he does not know much about social media. But it was weird he wasn’t even interested to talk about the company. I asked “can you tell me more about the service?”. He said “whatever you can see on our website, that’s basically what we do” 🤷🏻‍♀️
“Tomorrow I call you again you tell me what you can do”. I asked “what actually are you expecting from this role if you think it’s nothing?” He said “hmm user acquisition”. I don’t think this guy is even happy with his job to be honest.
This is a Singapore company.
