TESLA/GM's SUPER CRUISE (Forsige) - In an assessment of 17 vehicles fitted with active driving assistance systems (ADAS) by Customer Reports, General Motors Co's GM.N Super Cruise once again defeated Tesla's TSLA.O Autopilot, the research organization said on Wednesday.
The group said that a Teslas Model Y with Autopilot finished "a distant second" to a Cadillac CT6 with Super Crossing, which GM is rolling out to over 20 vehicles over the next three years, including their new Hummer electric truck.
Security and insurance experts were also alerted to the risks of overestimating customers ' willingness to use ADAS systems and some automakers were misconceived as naming their goods Autopilot, ProPilot, or Co-Pilot.
In 2018, in a Customer Report test for four ADAS-powered cars, Cadillac CT6 with Super Cruise scored higher than the Tesla Model 3 with Autopilot.
The Cadillac scored 69 points out of a possible 100 in the latest test, conducted on a circuit and on public roads this summer, while the Tesla scored 57.

A Lincoln Corsair fitted with the F.N Co-Pilot 360 system by Ford Motor Co, finished third with 52.
A driver-facing infrared camera is the crucial difference in the Super Cruise system to ensure that he or she pays attention to the road and is ready to take over manual control when needed, said Kelly Funkhouser, head of connected and automated vehicle testing at Consumer…
…Reports.

The group noted that in certain cases, Autopilot may shut down unexpectedly, while Super Cruise did a better job of notifying the driver when the machine is disengaging.
A Tesla Model 3 with Autopilot placed sixth out of 10 systems in recent European safety tests, winning high marks for performance and ability to respond to emergencies, but falling short of its ability to maintain a driver's attention on the road.
