/ My home county of Cumberland County catching serious flak for waiting to count mail ballots until day after Election Day, and here's why --> https://twitter.com/ccpa_net/status/1321566326494765056
/ The county plans to tally only in-person votes on Election Day, and report the results from them election night. Since far more Democrats than Republicans have voted by mail, in-person voting could lean Republican, meaning in-person results would lean Trump...
/ Thus, by tallying and reporting only in-person voting on Election Day, it may appear as though Trump has done very well. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. Then, on Nov. 4 and after, as mail ballots are tallied, that lead could shrink... or disappear...
/ This approach could play right into Trump's hands, being able to claim he had "won" on election night and then it was stolen from him. He has already been waging a disinformation war against mail ballots, and especially in Pennsylvania...
/ So whether you agree or disagree with the county commissioners, this is yet another moment in this election saga to remember: local races and local politicians matter! They can make really important decisions when a lot is on the line.
