...do you agree to sign up to the agency. Yes or no. I hesitated before pressing yes because I wanted to clarify that I would age some say as to which school the agency placed me in. Seeing as I don’t drive this is particularly important to me.

Asking if I were to say yes, would I have a say in school. They refused to answer via email. They rang me a couple of times and left voice mails, but I didn’t want to get tricked and hoodwinked into agreeing to something, so I left them to respond to my email...
...over the past 6 weeks or so, I have received around 2 emails a week from the company, from the agent allocated to me and even from his supervisor. In none of these emails has my very simple question been addressed. Despite never accepting the offer of agency membership...
...I have been sent countless requests (all via email I may add) to complete my pre-employment checks.
Just to reiterate, since my email enquiring about control over which school I’m allocated to, I have not made any contact with the agency. None. Of any kind.

Today, I have received a mildly threatening email which implies some negative repercussions for myself if I do not complete my pre-employment checks by Friday

In the past I’d be incensed that somebody threatened me like that. I’d have gone OFF at her because a) if you threaten me you need to experience consequences and b) that is unacceptable behaviour and I don’t want her threatening anyone else...

My guess is they work on commission. My other guess is that I would have no control as to which school I was sent to - if I did, surely they would have just sent a simple reply by now. If I can’t turn down a school that’s an insane journey away on public transport, than no dice.
And just to show that I’m definitely the reasonable one in this situation...what really threw me on the yes or no form, was that it said in small print, “we have the right to withdraw you from any school at any time and reallocate you to another school.”
Which just smacks of me having no say in where I’m placed. It’s like you’re the property of the agency. Yes I could resign if they sent me somewhere shitty, but the notice period wasn’t stated anywhere on the acceptance form - it could be 1 month, could be 6.
I could be getting 2 buses, a train and a husky drawn sled each way to work for 6 months. Clearly if I didn’t fulfil my notice period, things would be “escalated”.
I don’t NEED the job thankfully, so I’m just going to ignore them. They ain’t escalating shit.
