Taking a moment to talk about the shit sg writers did to James

First they acted as if Winn was on the same level as a LI as James was when James was the one Kara was actually interested in
Then after finally letting him & Kara get together he got dismissed as a LI

The break up came out of absolutely nowhere with Kara seemingly super into him during their date & happy but then suddenly at the end revealing she wasn’t that into him & didn’t want to be more than friends

As if the fact that she was in love with him in s1 disappeared

James ended up not only being replaced as a love interest but ended up having the importance of all the build up to the romance dismissed as meaning barely anything.

Then s2b & even some of s3 trying to act like Karas only time being in love was with mono

The white slave owner that replaced James because he was “too good a person to make an entertaining relationship”

Then then they added lolsen a relationship that was built in the exact opposite way of all of James previous ones

Rather than James’s usual base of respect & genuine care for his LI with Lena the build of it was that he didn’t like her he didn’t like her being his boss rather than he enjoyed her company or believed in her the way he had Lucy & Kara.

They chose the one woman that James had been hostile towards the one he absolutely disliked & said “yes this is the relationship for him because it means he won’t be too good to healthy to have needless potentially toxic drama”

Rather than him being in a relationship that brought out the best parts of his character & helped grow him instead we saw him regress

In s4 specifically we saw his morals constantly change with his relationship most of the season focusing on him being completely disapproving

Of Lena’s actions & instead of communicating we saw him consistently being angry at any help offered by Lena or denying any request she made as his boss

Obviously not every moment of s4 was like this but so many were he was most often choosing the wrong path

He ended up working with neo nazis NEO NAZIS he went from the character who often offered good advice & was great at following his stead fast morals to a man who despite other people’s warnings he still wanted to get to know the nazis

After s1 & 2 so James’ little time on scene was a constant fight of him going between being the in character version of himself & him being this regressive version of himself

Anyways this long ass thread is just to say that we should really talk more about just how many ways James Olsen got completely screwed over

The writers only stopped f-ing with him in s5 right before he left the show all together
