Who knows anything about fridges? Cos I just found something bad when we pulled the fridge out

There’s a tray at the bottom back of the fridge and it’s filled with oily water

Pulled the tray out. Attempted to clean it but it’s the consistency of chip fryer sludge left a decade. New plan. Drip tray goes in three garbage bags and then in another bag and I will clean it when we get to our new location

Movers late. Movers claiming they can’t get the dryer out. Fuck this shit

Movers dropping heavy shit on the floorboards. I am livid

Movers want me to abandon the washing machine

It’s like a fucking hostage situation and I’m paying by the hour for it

So I made a fuss

Guy brought his boss and boss’s second in charge down to the apartment

Boss: “Can’t do it love, have to move the door frame or leave it here. Not allowed to tamper with electrical parts.”

Me: “Give me the screw driver.”

Two screws later the door of the dryer came off and the dryer is out

Electricity provider at the new place just rang. Require a certificate of electrical safety before they will proceed with the connection. May be camping in the dark for 48 hrs now

Which means the food I packed in ice to take is gonna have to be turfed

And the tables and chairs got left in storage. Movers already on the highway. On the upside there was other stuff there that needs to be moved in another move later but... fuck today

In the middle of this, phone call from bank wanting to know my tax residency status. Sorted

10 minute break for water and coffee cos not gonna let the stress of today mess up my autonomic function to the point I end up in strife

And now 3 hrs and 45 minutes on a bus

Right. Friend just opened up the property for the movers. Toilet is leaking from the outlet

Glad I have care for the Kid this weekend during the move so he didn’t witness this chaos

Friend says the rental property we’re supposedly moving into for two months isn’t liveable. I don’t have another housing option and the bond and rent is paid. I want to hope it’s better than he says

We couldn’t inspect before moving cos regional movement bans cos covid restrictions unless moving house

And they’re buying smoke alarms cos none currently in the house

Alright, get a plan. Once lights are fixed and lawn is mowed and crap dumped on front porch is gone it won’t be as horrific maybe? It’s a place to sleep, not live and play. We treat it like the flat: eat and sleep there, play elsewhere

Plan is to try to make it safe by Monday

There is a back up plan. If unliveable, Kid stays with family and I will work on enrolling him in a different school next week. I will stay with our stuff til I can get another moving truck in on the 4th. It’s not excellent but ... it’s a plan
