Not every tarot reader does fortune telling readings. Fortune telling is not to be equated with party trick readings.

Tarot was used for fortune telling for a long time before the current trend of analytical self-exploratory readings.

Now mainstream tries to make tarot as not predictive or "fortune telling" as if that's bad.

Predictive reading is NOT going away as much as some people try to make it.

And it's OK if a reader doesn't want to make predictions and wants to analyze.

Tarot can be "fortune telling" / "predictive" and analytical at the same time or one or the other.
