Or at least make a Biden administration think that is what Iran plans to do. I remain skeptical that the calls by Iranian officials for compensation are firm/serious demands. There's also an easy way for a Biden administration to test that: Offer the clean return. 2/
Also, the comments by the Iranian official here about waiting until after the Iranian election before any talks with the U.S.: It is unclear if that is a reference to returning to the JCPOA, or engaging on other issues/a new deal (I suspect the latter). 3/
Finally, I think this piece makes a bit too much out of the "complexities" to a US return: Compensation? Testable. Removing Trump's sanctions? Doable. Time needed for Iran to come back into compliance? Not a hurdle. We've worked those sequencing issues before. 4/4
