what has been jughead’s trauma throughout the show; a thread

Also TW
// abuse, murder, alcoholism, etc.

So as we know, jughead was never as privileged as other of the characters from the show, he never had a proper home that wasn’t a trailer in a dangerous zone of town, he didn’t have loving parents that actually put enough attention and cared about him, and he also dealt
with his father’s abuse and alcoholism since a really young age, having a childhood like this can be extremely damaging and can be a big cause of ptsd, then later on season 1 we learned that he had also gone through his mother and sister’s abandonment after they left him with his
alcoholic father, he was homeless for an unknown amount of time because he didn’t want to live with his dad and during this, he saw a man who had been helping him out and keeping him safe get beaten up to dead by a bunch of drunk and high people, he wasn’t able to do anything
about it and witnessing that at a young age ofc has an impact on the person. Then we have the fact that he had no friends, and he grew up with just a few that at some point grew apart from him, leaving him as this lonely weirdo who everyone used to bully. They started with the
investigation of jason’s murder and when his dad was finally getting better, he was accused of committing the murder, what of course caused a big disappointment on jughead, making him an easier target for the bullies at school. And even when it was discovered his dad was innocent
he had to take jail time for incovering the crime. He was going to transfer schools, and be pulled apart from the people he was finally able to call his friends again. I’m probably missing some stuff but i don’t remember really well season 1.
During the beginning of season 2, he got a lot of trouble at staying out of the serpents, and as he was so desperate to try and get his dad out of jail, he got manipulated by a women who just needed someone to deliver her drugs, he went through heart break for more irrelevant
that it can sound it was pretty obvious he was missing miss betty cooper to stay grounded, and he did some pretty dark stuff, that i’m not planning on mentioning, then when his dad got out, there were still some scenes where he showed agressive towards jughead
then without going through more details the main traumatic event he went through on szn 2 was getting beaten up to death by a bunch of gang members, literally around thirty people against one, he got his tatto sliced off his skin and was technically death when they found him
this of course is traumatic but after it happened was never ever mentioned again in the show, and something that was mentioned once about it was that hiram was the one who sent the ghoulies to kill a fucking teenager. out of all season 1 and 2, we saw jughead open up about hos
feelings ONCE and even if he is written to be this sarcastic loner, until this point he had already been through a lot, yet it was never spoke about. Then we have season three that started with the possibility of his best friend being put in jail for a crime that he didn’t commit
and at the end he did was sent. He didn’t saw him for months until he got involved in the G&G stuff, getting addicted as the rest of the small town. Then they were able to get archie out and yea we know what happened after. they ran away together arriving to jughead’s mother
house, the woman that back in season 1 rejected him from living with her and his sister after his dad had been just arrested for murder. Then archie left by himself and he went back to riverdale to find out his girlfriend had been sent to a crazy nuns place where they tested
her with drugs and he had no idea and wasn’t there for her, of course, as jughead normally likes to do he blamed himself for this. HE WAS THROWN OUT OF A FUCKING WINDOW AND THAT WAS NEVER MENTIONED AGAIN, he found out his mother had just come back to start a drug business and was
only using him and his father. Then his sister got kidnapped, and this as well was never spoken about. He also went through his mother’s abandonment once again. he burned up his childhood home because he wanted to stop his mother from selling drugs, but yet seeing your childhood
home burn down in flames is not something easy to digest. Later on he and the rest of the core four were almost murdered by a crazy mum wanting revenge on their parents and i think that’s all for season 3. Then we have season four, that started with the loss of fred andrews
which ofc affected the entire town, including jughead considering he was like a parent figure for him, he had watched after him and take him in since he was a little kid and of course losing him had an impact. The he was transferred to stonewall, where he was locked in A COFFIN
for twelve hours, without knowing what in the fuck was going on and after being drugged by his new classmates, his teacher jumped out the window rignt infront of them and killed himself, also during his therapy session, they lead everything to be about jughead’s father, and made
him feel like a horrible human being by putting his father as the victim, pretending that Fp hadn’t cause jughead’s suffering throught his childhood and most part of his teenage years, they made him feel bad about it instead of focusing on everything he had been through, again
never mentioned again, then he got a supposed contract to continue with a series of books he had been fan of since
he was a kid, but what he didn’t know was that he was just being used and it was a death sentence, he got brained with a rock by a bunch of crazy preppies and almost died if it wasn’t for archie, betty and veronica, he faked his own death and had to see his “best friend” and
girlfriend pretend to be dating so everyone would fall right into the lie, he got lied into his face by her and when he wasn’t completely focused about his fucking homework because it’s pretty obvious his mental health is horrible, his girlfriend decided to snap at him for not
finishing his assignments instead of asking if he was actually okay, which he wasn’t, at all.
this thread is just to as people to stop making fun of jughead’s ptsd, and stop calling him a bad boyfriend for yelling at betty while he was having an outburst, try to inform yourself about PTSD before saying stuff like this, because even if it’s a fictional character it is
never okay to invalidate their mental health. and also this is directed to the writers to see if they can consider addressing jughead’s trauma, so yea that was all, bye :)
