I like AOC a lot (save for a couple policy areas) but the biggest counterpoint to the idea that she's the left's Reagan is there is no clear path of upward mobility from her current office
It's easy to drag Schumer on this website but one does so at the risk of misunderstanding why he's popular both among Manhattan donors and in the vast hinterlands of the state https://twitter.com/alon_levy/status/1321511329841192962
AOC's political qualities are not inherent to her district. If she's ambitious for higher office I would almost suggest she move somewhere else.
Reagan had already served two terms as governor of the largest state in the country! https://twitter.com/UD880/status/1321512107318431744
I think this is right https://twitter.com/TheM_L_G/status/1321513371922010112
oh damn she really is the voice of her generation 😂 https://twitter.com/aaronharris/status/1321515110121222144
A fair number of people responding to this with "she will run for governor or senate" with no further explanation or theory like thank you I know the structure of our political system https://twitter.com/JakeAnbinder/status/1321510986302562306
Anyway my fear is that she is going to run for mayor and win, an office that not only plays up her weaker issues IMO but will be a dead end for her politically
Other than being the cousin of a popular former president? https://twitter.com/counterpunkt/status/1321516650114568193
I am glad to see the amount of passion this thread has inspired, though for the love of god the “she could easily primary Schumer” crowd please do not dispense any further advice to AOC for her sake and all of ours
