This is very important!!! The shift in learning is not just about which classes need plexiglass and sync versus asynchronous content . There needs to be a conversation about how the conversion online (full or partial) reshapes everything. https://twitter.com/jcaroccio/status/1321506138366640129
Our unit of the analysis has been the class, but i would like to talk about the courseload.
And it’s not just about which classes are online: I am sure fall 2021 F2F and “hyflex” classes also constitute additional time obligation through confusion, the potential of switching modality over the semester, less ability to connect with classmates, navigating new tech...
And one more thing. As I have noted a bunch on here, I was talking with students about overloads ore-pandemic. Not only does the complexity of your semester multiply exponentially with so many classes,
but much of the mental strain comes from juggling across the five to seven classes you’re taking. And since you may not be able to pin the reason for your bad feelings on one particular factor, you may be more likely to blame yourself for not being able to “hack it.”
