for my non-american moots, heres how the election works

- im a poll worker for the county of los angeles so it will be different in every state/county but this is an overview of how it does go -
- this thread is specifically for the us presidential election -

most polling centers open on october 24th which is when early voting starts. all polling centers are open all day long (opening/closing times may vary)

MASKS ARE REQUIRED !!
we also provide masks and gloves
there are some standard election laws, these laws protect the privacy and safety of voters. one of the most important election law is the voter intimidation law. within 100 feet of a polling center there can be no promotion of a candidate, no police (emergencies are an exception)
at a polling center you can either turn in a vote by mail ballot (if received) or vote in person. to vote in person it is super simple, at the specific polling place i work at we do not need an id.
also at my polling place we have electronic voting stations which speed it up.
the voting machines are called BMD and if you are not a provisional voter that is where you cast your ballot.

reminder for this election americans are not just voting on the president, we vote for laws within our city and county as well
voting is different for everybody, some people take only 5 minutes but some people take a bit longer. we do allow phones at a bmd but taking photo of your selection or others is prohibited.
provisional voters are like a special case, either we can not find them in out system our they our out of county, all it means is that their ballot will not be counted immediately but will be looked at further. the researching go as far as possible to count their ballot
a very common idea that all polling centers carry is that we never refuse someone a right to vote. we have a process for all situations and we will never deny someone to their right.
at the end of the day we count all the ballots and triple check our numbers. after out center leader drives them out to another area where they are turned in.
a common question i get asked is what is the quickest way to vote. and in my opinion i believe that coming to a polling center is the easiest way. either turning in your vbm ballot or in person it is safer than having it get lost in the post office
and here& #39;s a quick reminder to be kind to all the staff! they work long hours with only one break for lunch. they are there for your service and do not want to have to argue with a voter.

and another reminder to go vote! registration can now be done online for ur convenience!
