When communicating about antisemitism:
- It's not a disease/virus. Fueling antisemitic ideas/acting hatefully are choices, not things that infect us against our will
- "Machine" is a better metaphor. Antisemitism is built up by people/groups because they believe it to be useful
- It's not a disease/virus. Fueling antisemitic ideas/acting hatefully are choices, not things that infect us against our will
- "Machine" is a better metaphor. Antisemitism is built up by people/groups because they believe it to be useful
- By the same token, antisemitism can be dismantled. It is made by people and it can be unmade by people. It is not a "rising tide" or any other natural metaphor outside our control.
When @MarshaBlackburn or @senatemajldr single out two Jewish donors to liberal causes out of a list of dozens as "pulling the strings", it's not because they are antisemitism-positive. It's because they consider it useful to play into antisemitic conspiracies about Jewish control
At @jewishaction we document the political leaders and groups who are building the machine of antisemitism, because we know they are a threat not just to Jews but to all freedom movements. You can find all of our research at http://www.howtofightantisemitism.com
Since people are engaging this thread, we also put together a full documentary on our work combatting the worst antisemitic attack in US history and the toxic, right wing ideology that undergirded it. You can watch the whole thing right here:
