1. Shit is getting fucked-up out there.
The art world made a wish to become mass public culture and be popular. It got what it wanted. Judged by those standards and norms.
Not pirate and outlaw mutineer culture; they are now trying to make art friendly, not upsetting.
2. Whatever the fuck happens with the Guston show. Not the point. At all. (I can think of fifty shows I’d rather see anyway. Enough with the greatest generation bullshit. I love them. You do. Good for us - good little humanists. Jesus. Turn the god-damn page. Or don’t...
3. I’d rather fight for other artists, frankly. This is performative “protest”. Really. Think about it. Or don’t. So much of this is an avoidance of making the idiot idea of “censorship” the issue when the issue is all white directors and all white curators....
4. ... and 12 of 14 white writers puffing about why other people “have to see these Gustons”. {really!?!! Really!?!!?! } The issue is about hiring more women and voices of color. All colors. So boring art world standard drill making it about “censorship”....
5. Censorship is NOT about the voices of the powerful and those in power being silenced. It is about those people with NO voice being censored. Of the voiceless not being able to speak for themselves. Jesus! Leave it to the art world [i do love us, though] to cry censorship ....
6. ... when the bigs are the ones doing the censoring and the ones being censored. Turn the page.)
But .....
Art is something you might cross the street to avoid. Maybe it’s that beautiful too. Primavera dream imponderable and dilapidation and new forms of beauty. ...
7. ... And butchery, love, horror, and the area between. Blood refreshes. And obdurate objects.
