The former Nigerian finance minister and coordinating minister of economy Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has been recommended by the World trade Organisation panel set up to screen the candidates for the top job of the organisation.
This recommendation gives her an edge over the closest rival Yoo Myung-hee of South Korea who has been running neck to neck with her as the announcements are being expected in the coming days as the head of the famous 25years organisation.
Delegates for the members are expected to hold a general council meeting in the coming days to make a formal decision to determine if there is indeed consensus support for Okonjo-Iweala.
Okonjo-Iweala, 66, twice served as Nigeria’s finance minister and has experience working at international governance bodies as a former managing director of the World Bank and as a chair at the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization.
She recently became a United States citizen in year 2019 and many analysts feels that should serve as a good background to getting the backing of the US government during the voting proceedings.
We at Iykeman Online sincerely congratulate her in advance and ultimately wish her Well as she brings her numerous years of experience in this top job.
