This Sunday, Roy Hodgson and Graham Potter will face off as adversaries on the touch line.

Both men have a shared commonality - a Swedish start to managerial life.

From 2010 to 2018, Potter performed miracles by lifting Ostersunds from the fourth tier all the way to the Europa League knockout stages.
It’s remarkable then that Potter could be considered anything other than the greatest English manager the Swedish game has seen.

That title, however, undoubtedly belongs to Hodgson.
After arriving in 1976, Hodgson turned relegation favourites Halmstad into title winners in only a year.
But it would be his time with Malmö where Hodgson would forever change Swedish football.
Five titles in a row followed as Hodgson pioneered the 4-4-2 formation...
...bringing an emphasis on pressing and helping to introduce zonal marking.
For Hodgson however, this would just be the start of his European adventure.
