Companies like @figmadesign, @Pitch & others exploit the natural affordances of the web in ways that will forever be difficult for desktop software.
Sketch making a “mistake” here feels like a funny thing to say though. It’s not like they could suddenly make a web based version with a company whose expertise & IP is mostly around native apps. Instead they double down on their strengths.
They can be the premier app for a shrinking group of users and until that group has become too small they have time to reinvent themselves and find a new market/niche.
