Quick thread for the managers and organizational leaders out there:

You absolutely need to be talking to your teams about their election dread and think about taking the steps to create schedules that can support them.
I met with my entire team yesterday just to do a vibe check and the vibes...they were bad. Between covid stress, covid grief, and existential dread about the election people were not doing well.
The result? I’m suspending normal business operations through the election. People are free to work when they want to/can and sort out their deliverables schedule with their supervisor.
But the bottom line is that it’s not appropriate to just ask people to head down and muscle through this kind of moment. We have to give people space to feel.
The enjoinder to work, regardless of all else, is a lethal impulse engrained in us via capitalism and white dominant culture. We can do better.
Encouraging all my colleagues in management roles to really take a hard look at what’s necessary in the next week and eliminate the rest
