—LATE NOTICE AFTER WATCHING THE GOLDEN VIDEO— a thread:
I watched the video today for the third time since it was released and something just clicked in my mind. Note: this is a personal interpretation, your interpretation is different from mine.
I realised that the mv is filmed in two different characteristics/ point of view portrayed by the same person: the one running and the one just taking it slow. It’s an entire conversation between two people in one video. +
When I first saw the teaser of golden, the colour palette used in the tunnel instantly reminded me of the video “Lights Up” and since he was running away from the tunnel, I can only assume that he has found freedom within himself, his sexuality perhaps. +
A short portrayal of aggression which is pointed to the other person that he is supposed to be conversing with, like I said the video is a whole conversation. Whilst this character he portrayed is showing aggression, the other him was starting to run from the warm palette +
What I see in this setting is that the body language suggests that there should be another presence in the passenger seat. +
In here,the camera acts as the other person in the convo,it’s like blue harry is conversing to the white harry. Its as if blue harry is a sense of motivation for the white harry that’s running. Blue harry’s the one that gives the push or companion to the white harry’s discovery+
This is what supports my idea that it is a conversation between two people, whoever is blue harry and white harry is but it portrays an endearing, adventurous, relaxing vibe in it. I am assuming that if it is the conversation, it could only meant that it is going well +
I haven’t read the lyrics nor memorised them because I suck at it. Now, Blue harry is in the right side whilst white harry is running towards his directions so it’s like (—...—), a face to face conversation +
These shots are taken from a second person’s point of view, it seems like a fishs eyes, rounded and pointy. The use of water based type of rounded shape, distorted and unbalanced proportions suggest that it could be an indirect reference to someone this this person knows that’s +
fond of water, or an indirect reference to something that we know. Whatever it may be, this is a clear representation of a conversation between two people and these photographs suggests that the point of view is from the front of the rounded shapes. +
The nature of the conversation seems to be of a comfortable and relaxing one. Again the camera is facing blue harry, whilst the white harry is still running, it could be meaning that he (blue harry) is a supporting role and a sense of motivation for white Harry’s self-discovery +
or a identity/who they are are still to be nurtured further hence why white harry kept on running. +
In “Adore You”, the blue coloured fish was freed as he became enormous, whilst the eroda boy was left on the island and sailed. If we are going to take into consideration the fish & the boy’s friendship, I’d say that the fish has been freed back to the ocean +
left Eroda boy behind and the fish’ presence with the boy influences the boy to be courageous hence why he sailed alone, he (boy) has found courage. Now, in Golden, the blue harry was in a relaxed side of the narrative which this could be a continuation from the fish’ +
Because he is back in his natural habitat meaning he could be in a stable position/mindset and anything that comes with being stable, and white harry could be the eroda boy, a continuation of his journey from sailing the ocean but instead of a direct continuation to the ocean +
White harry/eroda boy is now running in Golden which means he could be continuing his journey of discovery, like the warm palette that was used in the ‘Lights up’ that directly translates “I now know who I am but I am going to find out more” as he run away from the tunnel +
and blue harry/fish acts as a motivation, guidance and a supporter for the white harry’s journey. It’s like a conversation or a two-way presence between the eroda boy & fish, and white & blue harry. The eroda boy watched the fish grow and freed it back to it’s natural habitat +
so now in the sequel (?), the fish now watches the eroda boy/white harry grow himself. What I have been meaning to say is that, the music video is a conversation.
