In my last class about Upwork, I taught about 'Finding Clients.'

And that's what most people focus on: Getting the next client (or customer), get the dough and move on to the next client.

No time to check time, right?

Wrong.

1.
There are certain struggles attached with Finding Your Client. For the sake of this thread, let's divide them into three:

- The Before
- The During
- The After

Surely you will not experience the last two struggles if you don't deal successfully with the first, right?
2.
So, for the sake of this mini class, 'The Before' struggle is the most important struggle to tackle.

But how do you go about making this sliding tackle without getting a red card from the referee?

Your Customer Avatar (CA).
3.
In a nutshell, your CA is your personal made about your ideal client.

Before you say want new clients, there are certain questions you need to ask, for clarity sake. Some of them are:
- What's their age range?
- Where do they spend most of their time?
4.
- What's their income range
- Factors that influence their buying decisions?
- The various challenges that they face

Having answers to these questions gives you mad leverage over your competition. It's also a way to put one foot in the door...
5
... (see Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini).

Armed with all this information, you can:
* Craft your pitch accordingly: Imagine knowing that a potential client has a website but their blog content is inconsistent. Your pitch can contain...
6.
... suggestions on what to do to revamp their blog content. Of course, in the course of offering advice, you go offer your services 😊
* Connecting With Them: If you can touch on their pain points, they'll see you as someone who's a fellow student in their school...
7
... of struggles. And you become someone they can relate with, ask questions, and even give their hard-earned money
* Strategic Marketing: You need the attention of your client before you can make an offer. And if you do not know where they spend most of their time...
8.
... you will keep searching and not finding them. That's why you need to know whether your potential clients are Insta folks or spend more time on Pinterest or read every single email they get.

Getting the gist yet?
9.
If you sell wigs, what's the age range you're targeting? If you own a football academy, are you trying to make your brand attractive to the kids or their parents, who determine how much is spent on the child?

Finding your next client is more of a psychological move...
10.
... rather than a physical move.

Tackling the 'Before' Challenge is just one way to the hearts of your potential client. Social proof is another way.

I'll touch on this in subsequent threads as well as breaking down how to go about the other challenges.
11.
