Typically, Asian Americans are considered right-leaning, partly bc immigrants align themselves w/ traditional establishments of power, single-issue voting, religion, and anti-communism, etc.

Yes, it's true that the youth are more left-leaning, but the Asian American gap is also based on whether you were born/raised in the US.
And I’ve often heard older people upset bc their kids are going against “Asian American values of people who sacrificed to get you here.” 3/5

But it’s worth noting that young Asian Americans are not going against “traditional Asian American values.” In fact, there is a history of Asian Americans who've fought on issues at stake today.

This is all to say, young Asian Americans are on an existing path for Asian Americans in politics that continues forward. They aren't alone.
