there has been a lot of discussion around recruitment recently and as a hiring manager i just wanted to share some thoughts about the part of recruitment i dont like - telling people no <thread>
You cant pick everyone, the person may have been really impressive in many aspects but not in some that they may not consider important but you do. Perhaps you are right, perhaps you are wrong but you have to make a judgement
dont assume that there is any "fault" if you arent picked, perhaps you didnt convince the recruiter, perhaps the recruiting manager didnt see the aspects that make you perfect for the role. People are ( mainly) human and they make mistakes
just because you werent picked is no reflection on you, it may be a reflection on the skills of the recruiting manager, i know i have made mistakes and have said no to candidates who may have been awesome. I try to learn from my mistakes
