It's evidently clear that school full re-opening in the country have been in limbo for the last few weeks when the country started recording a surge in Covid19 infections
Kenyan school going children have been seen left in total darkness not knowing when their education ambitions will be achieved and come to pass. School going children have been passing through difficult situations since the Closure of schools in the early monthbof March.
Covid19 pandemic has been a serious threat that have halted so many business across the country and even globally. Most of the country's economies globally has deteriorated significantly posing a serious problem on the stability of them.
Kenya, by no exception is a country that has greatly suffered since the introduction of lockdowns. The country decided to start progressive phased re-opening of schools and other business sectors in the country.
After re-opening all businesses and some sections of students back to school, the country has recently recorded an increase in the coronavirus disease that is promoting the country to look for a second lockdown.
However, during yesterday's interview on Citizen TV Kenya, Dr. Loice Ombajo-head of Infectious Disease Unit at KNH and an adviser on Covid19 task force gave a welcoming advise on full return of students back to school.
Dr. Ombajo stated that closure of schools was not an option because learning is a very crucial part in every child's development.
She urged that CS kagwe and Magoha should focus on reducing the spread of Covid19 which spiked after restrictions to curb the spread of the virus in schools.
"It is important that children go to school because learning is a very crucial part of a child’s development. We have allowed everything to reopen and then we shall consider the solution to be school closure.
"We should instead think from the reverse. Let us reduce everything else so that we reduce the amount of Covid-19 and get to a point where we can allow children to go back to school," she stated.
Dr. Loice's encouraging words seems to breed hope among the children. Children back at home are engaging in bad things such as crimes, drug abuse, theft and robbery with violence, earl teen pregnancies and so forth.
With such issues at hand, most children would find it difficult to return to school if no proper control will be put in place.
