We have raised our concerns with the Northern Ireland Health Minister @RobinSwannMoH about his decision not to commission or fund abortion care services.

This decision is leading to women being turned away from care during the pandemic >> (1/4)

In early 2020, after a new legal framework for abortion was introduced in NI, & after the pandemic meant women would struggle to travel to England to access care, many Trusts set up services. However, the Health Minister continues to delay properly commissioning services. (2/4)
There have been a number of cases where women have attempted to take their own lives due to access issues. We have seen a substantial increase in unregulated services in Northern Ireland. This harm to women cannot continue. (3/4)
We want a clear roadmap towards a fully commissioned service, more support to maintain current abortion services & restart any which have stopped, & we want legal advice which suggests the @healthdpt are not under an obligation to commission these services published in full (4/4)
