Instead of covering stories of health care professionals working tirelessly or people coming together to deal with climate change. They stoke fear, hate and distrust. A thread.

Somewhere along the way the media landscape morphed into news for views. Presented to the public are horrific stories over and over, rather than a fact I think is so incredibly missed.

That people, in times of need, are GOOD.

People come together to protect each other, they share food, they shelter others, they risk their own lives for the safety of others.

For centuries both men and women have protected each other from attack, from sickness, from challenge after challenge.

Now, more than ever this munipulative sham needs to be talked about on a global scale.

If you see people as to be feared or untrusted, those people will act as though they are feared and untrusted. It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

The media has SO MUCH to answer for.

I believe the more we can trend the media towards positive news, kindness and progress. We will see, positive news, kindness and progress.

We have to actively fight back. But how?

Engage on postive tweets. Stop supporting every bullshit news publication. See someone do something kind? Put that out into the universe.

People are not bad, flawed yes, but time and time again you see incredible acts of kindness.

A son looking after his sick mother.
A child choosing to share a toy.
A woman going days without sleep to comfort a newborn.
A drunk girl in the bathroom comforting a random stranger.
A random smile from a neighbour.
A religious person embracing someone with different beliefs.

As the media continues to push fear and hate for no other reason than money, take a moment, look around and realise more often than not, people come together to lift, to give and to contribute to the progress of society.
