[Music Thread] I was looking for a Lata song when writing my SPB blog. That led me to listen to the songs of Salilda and Lata. You want to listen along?
The song that started it all. 'na jiya lage na' from 'Anand'
This naturally took me to that glorious 'O Sajna' from 'Parakh'
This is what an amazing melody sounds like and Lata was at her peak. I know that nowadays there are a lot of Lata haters but I can bet that no one else can deliver this song with such beauty like Lata
The next song too naturally followed, 'ja re ud ja re panchi' from 'Maya'
These were glorious days of Hindi film music. Salil, Roshan and Madan Mohan creating magic and Lata giving life to their amazing tunes.
'zulmi sang aankh ladi' from 'Madhumathi'
Since it is 'Madhumathi', we must also hear this haunting melody. 'aaja re pardesi'
Since it is pre lunch, we don't need to be woried about sleep. We can play this lullaby confidently. 'aa jaa re aa' from 'Do Bigha Jameen'
What a song this is. One of my favorite lullaby.
That wonderful 'rajnigandha phool thumare' from 'Rajnigandha'
The haunting, 'saathi re' from 'Poonam Ki Raat'
The interlude of this song is also the mukhada of another Salilda song.
'madhubari yeh hawaein' from 'Anokha Dhaan'
'jago mohan pyare' from 'Jagte Raho'. One of the few (or only?) movies of Raj Kapoor which has music by Salilda
Classical music oriented, 'cham cham nachat' from 'Chaaya'
'nis din nis din' from 'Annadata'
'na jaane kyun' from 'Choti Si Baat'
Now for some Salilda duets which featured Lata. 'tasveer teri dil mein' from Maya. Lata with Rafi.
Kishore did not sing too often for Salilda. Here he is in a duet with Lata. 'chaand raat tum ho saat' from 'Half Ticket'
Lata with Talat. 'aaha rim ke pyare pyare' from 'Chaaya'
Oops. Wrong movie name. The movie is 'Usne Kaha Tha' not "Chaaya'. 'Chaaya' has a different Talat Lata melody.
We will close this thread with a duet of two of favorite singers, Mukesh and Lata. 'do akhiyan jhuki jhuki si' from 'Prem Patra' cc: @ideallaedi
With that I end the thread. Time to go and get some lunch.
