Assuming JT’s result remains positive (the rapid tests they are apparently all taking tonight), there are lots of considerations. First, Turner himself. I can imagine how hard it would have been to miss out on that celebration. But he still should have stayed out. Full stop.
Second, the Dodgers. Sounds like they did everything right up until the celebration (which was JT’s choice?). They followed MLB’s protocols. Maybe at least get some cohesive messaging? Friedman, Roberts, etc. comments making it worse...
Third, MLB. I said before this season started that it was a bad idea. I said the season should be canceled when the big STL/MIA outbreaks occurred. And I said allowing fans (even at 1/5ish capacity), esp. in TX, was stupid as hell. They traded all that for $$$.
Shouldn’t be surprised about that one. It’s always $$$ > safety. But anyway if the Turner timeline of:

1. Yesterday’s test inconclusive
2. Today’s test rushed
3. Positive test
4. Removed from game immediately

Then the blame, IMO, rests on MLB. Cause that’s a horrible system.
If a test is inconclusive, no matter how common that may be, that player should quarantine until it’s ruled negative. Simple.

What’s the point of allowing them out of quarantine until you get a result? If it’s positive, like JT’s, you’re screwed.
Basically it means everyone around Turner - teammates, coaches, crew, staff, opponents, umpires, media...list goes on - over last 48h or so has probably been exposed. If it turns out it was a false positive then phew, but otherwise, what the fuck, MLB?
And back to JT & the Dodgers once more because they’re also at fault here. JT shoulda sucked it up and stayed quarantined. The Dodgers should have forced him to. Besides the bad PR, it’s just plain irresponsible and dangerous. Puts a stain on the win.
And clearly JT was NOT social distancing/masking responsibly when he came back out. He was hugging teammates, sitting next to Doc in pics, mask only on for some of it. It’s alarming and frustrating that teammates, coaches, execs, etc. are so lax about that, title brain be damned.
Anyway, what a stupid blemish on an otherwise amazing night. For MLB’s sake, this better have a serious, reputable timeline tomorrow. For JT’s & the Dodgers’ sakes, they better get a bunch of negative tests back and hope nobody else (again, Rays, umps, media, etc.) tests positive
Think it’s safe to say the fan idea was stupid but we all knew that. Expect nothing less than stupid ideas from Rob Manfred.
