1 fact about Metal Sniper per like on this post!

(Might even do this with other characters later too)

1. Metal Sniper is powered by a jewel known as the Thunder Topaz. It is shaped like a lightning bolt and gives him plenty of electricity-based attacks, but also supplies him with too much energy. This is why he has a very unique personality compared to other robots.

2. In the Archie and OVA continuities, Sniper has a personality and story arc heavily inspired by Spinel from Steven Universe, where he is afraid of being abandoned and seeks to destroy what his former idol/friend loved. Spinel is often referenced for his expressions, too.

3. While he has no romance arcs in his main stories, Sniper's official partner is Cu-Bi, a fox robot built to destroy him. Both are "male" machines; Sniper also refers to himself as bisexual.

4. Metal Sniper is a prototype for a badnik known as the "Egg Sniper". The Egg Snipers were supposed to be badniks which accompanied Metal Sonic as his own small army, but Metal Sniper's failed design made the project get scrapped.

5. The only part of Sniper that is successful is his obedience to Metal Sonic. He'd do anything to protect him, and in his mind, he sees him almost like an older brother - the way Tails sees Sonic.

6. If any genre of music were to be used for Metal Sniper, it would have to be electro-swing. Caravan Palace is a good example.

7. Sniper loves making friends, but is afraid of losing them so often pushes people away. This comes from the fact he had to deal with Metal being destroyed (Archie and OVA continuities). He also worries about betrayal.

8. Even though he's a robot, Sniper is very expressive and has a wide range of emotions. He is most expressive when sad or distressed, since his "eyeliner" tilts downwards to show this expression.

9. Sniper's current design is not how he was originally built. He had a "classic" body type which matched the rest of the OVA style, so he once had a stronger resemblance to Metal before he upgraded himself.

His "younger" appearance differs slightly depending on the continuity.

10. As mentioned earlier, Sniper is heavily inspired by Spinel in certain story arcs. In addition to this fact, his relationship with Shard the Metal Sonic is reminiscent of Spinel's relationship with Steven.

11. Sniper's age is 11 since that was the age I was when I created him originally, though his "older" look is around 14 to 15 to show he has upgraded and developed.

12. Sniper was primarily built for stealth. He has very light footsteps that cannot be heard, and was also designed to shoot concentrated lightning from far away, hence the "Sniper" name. His original concept did actually have a sniper rifle.

13. The reason Sniper is chrome is because he has no complete paint job. If he was completed, his paint job would be black to further compliment his stealth abilities. In some stories, he gives himself the black paintjob. His design differs depending on the universe.

14. Sniper calls anything organic "squishy". This comes from Ratchet & Clank 3, where the machines call organic lifeforms "squishies". This attitude is also inspired by Courtney Gears' song in the game - in fact this overall song influenced part of Sniper

15. At one point, Metal Sniper was supposed to have an ant farm.

There was no reason for it. But at some point, he was supposed to have one.

16. In some stories, Sniper works for the Brotherhood of Metallix against his will. His main feature is his mask which covers his muzzle, since he's not supposed to speak in this form.

The Metallix are also the only ones who perfect Sniper's programming.

17. Sniper has back spines because his feet contain boosters instead, though in original drawings, he did have a shorter version of Metal Sonic's back engine.

18. Sniper speaks, but if surprised or caught off guard, he often makes noises reminiscent of the ones modern Metal Sonic makes.

19. Metal Sniper was never supposed to have a mouth and at one point was never supposed to talk, but I went by Archie Comics logic and have since never wanted to change back.

20. Sniper had a future form known as Hyper Metal Sniper, but I felt it was too dark for his character since he became a tyrannical genocidal maniac. Instead, these traits were recycled into Repins Borto, an android villain from an original story.

(Repins = Sniper backwards lol)

21. Sniper is shorter than Metal Sonic. The only time he is the same height as him is when he's fully completed, but both of his main forms (classic & current) are shorter.

22. In most stories, Sniper does easily get captured very quickly after first appearing. Most of his character development happens in captivity since it forces him to spend time around other characters.

He's actually a terrible hostage. Very vocal. Also useless.

23. For no real reason, Sniper often had one of his eyes permanently damaged during conflict in some stories. So he would have one cracked eye screen which didn't work.

There was no reason for this. This was just an edgy choice I made back in the day.

24. Another abandoned character trait was Sniper being "cute", childlike and extremely cowardly. Instead these traits have all been toned down to make him a subtle coward who is childish rather than completely childlike.

25. Metal Sniper's name comes from my first FanFiction username "MetalSnipertheHedgehog". This was a combination of my three favourite Sonic characters at the time: Metal Sonic, Fang the Sniper and Scourge the Hedgehog.

They all helped develop his character concept.

26. Metal Sniper originally wore an actual belt. In later stories this was his way of making himself unique compared to the finished Egg Sniper models.

Now his belt is part of his design to hide his pelvis joint mechanism.

27. If damaged, Metal Sniper "bleeds" black oil.

Even more severe damage causes sparks to fly from his damaged areas.

28. Another scrapped story from a long time ago was that Sniper was one of two things: the robot duplicate of a hedgehog named Klaus ("Kludd" as an alias) or he was the roboticized Kludd without his memories.

This was one of my worst versions of Sniper.

29. Sniper sees Robotnik/Eggman as a father figure. One nickname he has for him is "Eggdad". Obviously Robotnik despises this.

30. In the Forces continuity, Sniper helped in starting the war. His efforts weren't great; he went after Fox Squad, a squad of mercenary foxes, and was eventually taken out by their rivals: Jackal Squad. This caused him to remain back at base since he was deemed useless.

31. Sniper may have a mouth, but he cannot eat. It'll clog up his components and damage him internally.

32. Sniper would definitely be voiced by a female with a light robotic filter.

Maybe something like Luffy?

33. Sniper is very insecure about being a defect. He really wants to prove himself as a success to both Robotnik and Metal. If pointed out that he's a failure, he gets angry and upset.

34. My first "mouthed" version of Sniper was in the Archie universe. His original story was that he became Agent Tarot, a member of the Secret Freedom Fighters. He led another part of the SFF which was solely a squad of robots, one being a rogue Metal Sonic Trooper.

35. In the Forces continuity, Sniper does have a habit of annoying Infinite.

36. A part of Sniper I once added was that he had flexible ears, like those Jazwares Super Poser figures. But the articulation became hard to draw, so I just made his face more expressive.

37. In one of his original stories, Sniper was supposed to be severely damaged by Metal Sonic 3.0, which led to him becoming the emotionless Hyper Metal Sniper (mentioned before in this thread).
