Downtown LA is back at it with the Dodgers’ World Series win. Hundreds at Flower and 11th shooting off fireworks and chanting “Fuck the Astros.” Celebration is spread out through the city, making it more difficult for LAPD to respond to the crowds it seems.
Lots of champagne showers tonight
Police moving in on Hope, a few bottles out of the crowd, people disperse down other streets
After the Dodgers’ World Series won, the crowds still chant for Kobe
A gleaming yellow pick up truck burns rubber before taking off
LAPD line forms at the end of 11th. The crowd moves down Grand before they even make it down the street.
People begin piling onto the front of a delivery truck
People get inside the delivery truck and begin looting it. Popcorn and kettle chips raining down on us.
Police move in and the crowd disperses
A man gets hit in the leg by a less lethal round and falls to the ground. I and some other reporters help him along.
A procession of patrol cars drives past a crowd, who make a game out of throwing bottles at the cars
A Metro bus with graffiti on it, presumably from tonight, drives past a cheering crowd
Whelp, hit by a less lethal in the arm. I’m fine, just noting it. As per usual, camera around my neck, carrying camera bag, and wearing press credentials.
Mounted units disperse another crowd. Got pushed down the street by this officer, who responded that he “didn’t care” when told that I was press.
A DTLA resident carrying his dog tries to get back to his home but is blocked by police
