TREACHERY in the sacred realm:
He betrayed the Lord Jesus—"the innocent blood": Luke 6:16 ...and Judas Iscariot, which also was the TRAITOR.

Judas Iscariot went to the wrong people to confess: he knew the Lord Jesus forgave sins during His ministry—He is God—but Judas did not ask Jesus.

Worse than the act of treachery itself is the underlying state of unbelief. Treachery acts to destroy another (yet the Lord Jesus arose from the dead "and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen"), but unbelief is both the origin and ultimate destroyer of the traitor.
Jesus' statement of Judas Iscariot's impending destruction should be sobering to any thoughtful person:

The treachery of a false teacher can come in the form of a betrayal of the Gospel, denying the Lord Jesus: "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof."
Just before their final destruction, they are taken in by their own unbelief: "deceiving, and being deceived."

Like Judas Iscariot, a treacherous false teacher is very interested in the money bag, while 'speaking Christian': "through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not."
We are admonished to examine ourselves to make sure that we are in the faith—like a spiritual checkup, a realignment with the Gospel after exposure to false teachers. The Spirit of truth will help us, through the Word of God, to recognize the spirit of error. #Bible #JesusChrist
