So...I have some thoughts...

First and foremost, I am personally frustrated because once CDPR started saying Nov. 19, no more delays, I put in for my 1st paid vacation in SIX YEARS so I'd have a complete interrupted week to play this game.

HOWEVER, that frustration aside...1/? https://twitter.com/CyberpunkGame/status/1321128432370176002
...I have some serious frustrations with CDPR as of late that go beyond this upset to my vacation. No, this's more of another straw on the camel's back. Time will tell if it is the backbreaking one.

Because what this news really means is 21 more days of CRUNCH for the devs. 2/?
Because only a few weeks ago, the news broke that in order for the devs to get Cyberpunk 2077 out by Nov. 19 management instituted mandatory crunch for everyone working on the game. And it has been reported that the devs only learned of this via twitter with the rest of us.
3/?
And that wouldn't be the first time the devs learned of major news regarding the release of Cyberpunk 2077 over twitter. Because it's also been reported that several devs only learned of the game's many delays this year over Twitter as well.
4/?
And the crunch being forced on the workers at CDPR is only one of the major issues that I and many others have in regards to the release of this game. This is really just the latest of many others.
5/?
One of them being the...NOT GREAT (read: fetishistic, and enbyphobic)...way CDPR has represented transgender people in Cyberpunk 2077. But that isn't something for me to comment on at length as a cisgender person, there're many fantastic trans folks with more to say on this.
6/?
And you absolutely should seek out those opinions and take them with genuine merit. Especially because once you do, it definitely makes CDPR's talk of inclusiveness ring fairly hollow.
7?
Now, I do not know for sure if CDPR decided to inform their devs of this delay ahead of their public tweet announcing it. But going by past behavior, I have my doubts.

I do have some certainty that this delay DOESN'T mean CDPR has ended crunch requirements for the devs.
8/?
And as that US Gamer article notes, delays to Cyberpunk 2077 specifically have never meant an end to crunch. The CP2077 devs have been crunching more or less non-stop since before the first gameplay reveal two years ago...
10/?
...and now that crunch is continuing into the Holiday season of what is already the worst year for everyone currently living. This means game devs at CDPR will no doubt have to once again change their holiday season plans. Vacations will have to be rescheduled, or canceled.
11/?
And that says nothing for the mental or even physical health of the developers and their families.

And at this point, they are working -they are crunching- for the Day 1 patch. Because CDPR has so much at stake on this game, that any major bugs could cost them majorly.
12/?
And frankly, as much as I would like to play this game, as much as I'd like to see it succeed in spite of the mountains of legitimately problematic issues it will no doubt have.

At this point, the problems aren't the developers at fault. They're the fault of management.
13/?
And part of me genuinely thinks they need to release the game on November 19th. Bugs and all. Knowing that a patch fixing them won't be available until December 10th. That way every one of use can see firsthand what needs to be fixed and know it was management's fault.
14/?
And every review of the game needs to point out those bugs and glitches. And every single review needs to lay the blame for those bugs on the management at CDPR.

And honestly, not just on management. But on the executives & higher ups at CDPR as well.
15/?
Because frankly, CDPR is burning through goodwill about as fast as Bethesda did with Fallout 76 and Cyberpunk 2077 isn't even out yet.

It's at the point where I have more faith in FECKING UBISOFT —the employee harassing, microtransaction fueled, sex pest game company— to release a fun cyberpunk-genre game in the form of Watch Dogs: Legion on time.
