As an ereri shipper, i have never seen the courtroom scene as romantic or otherwise indicative of Levi’s personality, since it was cleared up immediately that it was Erwin’s plan (i’ve been mad at it for a while). Even before the visual novel confirmed Levi’s internal monologue during the scene, it was clear enough that Levi didn’t want to hurt Eren & doesn’t hate him, and now that we know more about Levi’s body language you can see care already in the courtroom (i talked abt it on tumblr)
but then Isayama made a joke out of Levi punching E&J - I didn’t think much of it initially as it looked like comic relief, but then Isayama laughed at it and about how Levi’s anger towards Erwin made him hit his teammates. This is the moment I started to be critical of Levi
...and of both Levi’s ship tbh. But anyway if I dismiss this instance as comic relief (tho it raises MANY questions about Levi’s unhealthy coping mechanisms that are never questioned in canon...or not presented in a serious enough way, to the point that the fandom dismiss them)..
then there is the rooftop RtS scene. He didn’t touch Mikasa, but punched Eren. Yes, it was a highly stressful moment, yes, Eren wouldn’t have given up. But still, I always thought Eren was sort of the bigger person here because he merely begged and argued with words.
Then the blimp scene...I thought there was “more” as it paralleled the courtroom scene (which was notoriously all for show) but nope, it was just Levi being shitty. I believed he didn’t think lessons could be taught through physical harm, that’s why it was ooc initially to me.
Bc it was never a lesson, whenever Levi hurt people was because he lost his cool (due to unhealthy relationships/behavior) or for show, or to get things done quickly when there wasn’t time in stressful situations. The blimp scene was fucking ugly, especially because he DOES care.
Then ch133 was fucking pathetic, if he cares so much for Eren, then why didn’t he even try to talk to him like he used to, and instead mentioned “only beating him up”? That’s a parody of himself. idk if it’s Isayama’s weird writing post-timeskip or if I always read Levi wrong.
with “romantic” i meant sexy or like fuel for the ship as “mlmmmm levi seme kicks eren big sexy” which i know 1. some people do (their business) and 2. antis claim ereri is only based on that and we all find it hot.
