i think it feels a lot nicer when u dress for urself than for others though there are times when u wanna dress for someone especially someone special and get their reaction its okay and sometime i do that too *rolls*

But not to the point where it makes you uncomfortable or not feeling like urself thats a big no no! I cant say that i fully tackle this problem since i too still struggle with it

There are times where i was stuck with the mentality of "dress to impress" to the point where i dislike dressing up and just stick whats look okay on me but not from my according but from other people

Enviroment playes a huge role too! It rlly sucks bc as much as i really dont care about fashion back then, there are styles that i really wanted to try and dress but i was scared getting backlash or left out

theres was a time where i tried trying something different and how i liked and a lot of people didnt like it to the point where i was dying from embarrassment

I hope this isnt off topic but gender affects too in a way? I tried dressing up differently but like before i received criticism(?) to the point where someone said "you should just stick being a girl since you are one" while knowing that i am not one

Back then hearing that, i was so sad and gave up styling myself but if i had a time machine, i would've throw him out the window or kick his knee lol maybe i shouldve but oh well

I think after graduating and during quarantine ive been trying to connect myself to styling again, it feels really nice

This is so long and baseless haha but dress for yourself to your own according and comfort! It feels so much better and at the end of the day, you're the one wearing your clothes, not them or anyone!

Also note though because of different situation, someone cannot dress how they like and i understand and this thread is also a reminder to me as well and hope that one day, we can finally dress to our own according and how we like
