it's a filmed show which means they always have cameras on them and the public likes it? when they bicker so on-screen, they are RIVALS. wei ying renovates the house motivated by pure spite. lan zhan looks for only the best listings, he has eyes and ears on the market everywhere

everyone thinks that they are each other's worst enemies. they argue over paint color and place bets on who can win however many episodes in a row. when they have to be filmed driving, wei ying always makes a scene about lan zhan's "stuffy" car

but when the cameras are off? they are PINING. oh god the pining. they go out for coffee to discuss the next filming session and wei ying has a blush on his face cause it's totally a date and lan zhan is just staring at him the entire time because he is? in love

and it's still fun, they both still have a great time filming, but wei ying starts picturing lan zhan's reaction to his designs moreso than the homeowners' reaction, and lan zhan picks out listings thinking about asking wei ying to move in with him
