I've approached partnerships differently this year for my personal brand. The money is important, and so is the value add and exchange that takes place beyond the hashtag and the analytics for ALL stakeholders.

Here are 5 WAYS I'm doing it so far:
1. It's the building and nurturing of relationships

2. The value creation for stakeholders besides you and the brand, take care of the people you are serving

3. Going beyond the call of duty, trust me, the ROI provided is a longer term than 2 tweets or a 2 month contract
4. Invite other people to the conversation, creating value for brand partnerships goes beyond you and your tweets - atleast that's how you should think about it. Offer trade exchanges or pay out of your cut if you can.
5. Be transparent about what you can and cannot do, and monitor what you do beyond the analytics as well.

I hope this helps a bit.

Oh, and this extends to speaking engagements as well, try and optimize the experience for value as much as you can.
