Quick offensive notes from Texans / Packers week 7 game
This will not be a popular opinion
David Johnson has not been anywhere close to as bad as what people are making it seem
The biggest issues with the offense are Senio Kelemete & Zach Fulton
Next it was Martin & Pharaoh

Kelemete was brutal in the first half and bad all game
Fulton was solid in the first half and then brutal in the 2nd half
Nick Martin was consistently an issue
Pharaoh Brown struggled w/ increase work in the first half & killed several plays

Tytus Howard has developed week over week
It's extremely rare to see a guy's flaws one week, then see it fixed within 2-3 weeks
Then he moves on, working on the next flaw while maintaining improvement on past flaws
The foundation of the offense is Watson w/ Tunsil & Howard

Laremy Tunsil was his usual dynamic self
That being said, Za'Darius Smith was the first past rusher all season that made Tunsil work (usually, it's effortless)
Tunsil is so technically sound that speed or power rushers both sttruggle vs Tunsil

Smith made Tunsil work with by hitting him with burst + speed + technique etc
Tunsil countered with stellar movement skills
If you're going to watch 1 game with 1-on-1 in the trenches this season, go back & watch Tunsil vs Za'Darius reps!

It appears as if Tytus has been studying Tunsil's film, some
He's become more effortless in his blocking & trusting his technique & god-given traits of movements skills at his size
He's done so while maintaining his nastiness of dunking opposing pass rushers

While studying Deshaun Watson you notice how he's molded his game as the season has gone on
Watson realizes due to his defense & t.o.p. limiting touches, combined w/ no running game putting him behind the sticks, that he has to be diligent in his throws...

Meaning, his margin of error is less than any other QB in the NFL due to
- no running game
- worst rush defense
- last in t.o.p.
He's been turning down deep shots & instead leaning on chain-moving, high percentage passes
How's it worked?

In the last 2 games Deshaun Watson is completing 75% of his passes for 644 yards 6 TDs & 0 INTs
Those 2 opponents have a combined record of 10-2

Unless Max Scharping murdered someone, I dont understand him only seeing special teams reps in a 1-6 season, which happens to only be his 2nd year in the league
Instead Houston starts a veteran at LG in Kelemete who is struggling in run & pass pro (other than that he's fine)

I spent all offseason talking about how Zach Fulton was an issue at RG
O'Brien decided to redo his contract to save money, instead of replacing the problem
Kelemete, Fulton & Martin (the entire interior of the OL) are the biggest issue with the offense...by far

O'Brien loved "blocking" tight ends, the bigger the better
So, he brought in Darren Fells & Pharaoh Brown
The problem is that neither one of them are blocking worth a damn in 2020
This, combined with the interior of the OL throws the entire offense out of whack
