The Star Tribune just revealed that MN Republicans offered a man $15,000 to run as a 3rd party candidate in a tight race in order to "pull votes" from @AngieCraigMN.
Republicans know they can& #39;t win on their ideas, so they& #39;re trying to trick voters. #mnleg https://www.startribune.com/gop-recruited-pot-party-candidate-to-pull-votes-from-dfler-he-said/572888651/?refresh=true">https://www.startribune.com/gop-recru...

Republicans have been recruiting fake 3rd party candidates across MN, because that& #39;s the only way they can win.
Folks are rejecting the GOP agenda of taking away health care & allowing COVID-19 to tear through our state, so the GOP is trying to steal votes using fake candidates.

As the @MNReformer noted of Robyn Smith, another 3rd party candidate in a swing district: "[Smith] also acknowledged she had been recruited to run on the marijuana ticket by a Republican." https://minnesotareformer.com/2020/06/15/some-legalize-cannabis-candidates-are-giving-off-a-very-maga-vibe/">https://minnesotareformer.com/2020/06/1...
In their newsletter, the Reformer also noted that Kevin Shores, a third party candidate running in CD 7, told them: "he was encouraged to run by someone named Kip Christianson, though Shores wasn’t familiar with him...Turns out, Christianson is a youngish GOP operative."
. @paulgazelka even worked to recruit a 3rd party candidate.
During a meeting Gazelka had with Sammy McCarty, a pot legalization advocate, Gazelka asked McCarty to run 3rd party in a swing state senate district, per a recent @politico report. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/10/09/weed-candidates-influence-minnesota-elections-428461">https://www.politico.com/news/2020...

Another fake pot party candidate, Tyler Becvar, is running in MN& #39;s 27th senate district. Not only is Becvar an adamant Trump supporter, he’s also a longtime family friend of the Republican candidate in that race. Becvar is even openly campaigning for the GOP candidate! #mnleg
That& #39;s not all.
According to the @MNReformer again, another swing district 3rd party candidate, Jason Hoschette, is close with a senate GOP staffer. When asked about this, the staffer deleted all posts referencing the 3rd party candidate and refused to explain their connection.

Aside from the brazen dishonesty, another unfortunate side-effect of fake 3rd party candidates helping to elect Republicans is that it& #39;ll set back the marijuana legalization cause, which is an important piece for true criminal justice reform. #mnleg https://www.boisestate.edu/bluereview/how-marijuana-legalization-would-benefit-the-criminal-justice-system/">https://www.boisestate.edu/bluerevie...
Lastly, let’s not forget the most high-profile instance of this trickery: Kanye West.
According to the @nytimes, “the effort to get Kanye West on the ballot... is increasingly looking like an operation run by President Trump’s allies...” https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/04/us/politics/kanye-west-president-republicans.html">https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/0...

Here& #39;s the bottom line: Republicans have stopped trying to win elections on their ideas because their ideas are awful.
Destroying the Affordable Care Act? Ignoring COVID-19? Denying climate change? Tax breaks for billionaires? It& #39;s not working, so Republicans are cheating.

The people of Minnesota deserve better than a Republican Party that’s willing to cheat in order to force an unpopular agenda that will hurt Minnesotans onto our state.
Voters who don’t want to elect Republicans would be wise to steer clear of 3rd party candidates.
