Today my hospital was the victim of a "Ryuk" ransomware attack. We cannot use any systems/computers that are based on a Windows platform, the duration of this is expected to be 3 days. Rumor is that 20 other US hospitals are in the same boat. Honestly terrifying.
Wow what a response all of a sudden. Thank you all for the attention on this issue, I have been very concerned about the lack of reporting or even tweeting about this considering the scale and seriousness of the issue. We are living a terror attack right now.
I work for Sky Lakes Hospital in Klamath Falls. They have made this news public. I have very little solid information on the matter and don’t want to spread rumors. What I do know is that there is a possibility of the system being down much longer than three days.
I also know the appropriate agencies have been notified. This is a terrifying national security (and international, by the sounds of it) breach. I can’t imagine who would have such disregard for human health. We are very dependent on our computer systems, but adapting quickly.
