Last weekend I preached on how movements of liberating love have been saving my life and restoring my humanity for decades. To know salvation essentially is to know what you are living for and if you are fully invested in that life, also what you would die for. #AceWeek
Restoration of my humanity has included (a journey) healing from white supremacy, compulsory sexuality and exploitative capitalism. It is all interconnected. Ultimately we are trying to find our way to life and demonstrating living relationships with more depth. #AceWeek
I learned/restored/reclaimed my asexuality this year because I was living in deeper relationship with liberated people, BIPOC and white, queer and straight (including my cishet white husband), who helped me see and love so much of myself and the world in new ways.💜🤍🖤 #AceWeek
And how necessary it is to be authentic and true to yourself in order to bring healing and hope into the world. I also have been encouraged to see that without have a word for it before, I did live pretty true to myself the first 40 years of my life. 💜🤍🖤 #AceWeek
However, I also felt very other, very out-of-the-loop and misunderstood at best and broken-at-the-core at worst. So I am happy now to be liberating from that and reconstructing/restoring my understanding of myself. I will continue to need a lot of support. 💜🤍🖤 #AceWeek
I only recently learned about 💜🤍🖤 #AceWeek, and so I imagine many people are new to asexuality and the accompanying issues, visibility being a huge one. Knowing a lot of my particular circle and followers includes theologians, I have a theological ask...
I love the expansive Jesus representations and the ways they help us grasp our beLOVEd-ness; queer Jesus, trans Jesus, the Last Temptation of Christ Jesus. "Celibate Jesus," I submit to you, only serves compulsory sexuality and the man-behind-the-curtain machination: patriarchy.
But what about asexual Jesus? What about liberated generous loving, passionately intimate, queer platonic, aromantic asexual Jesus? What does that reveal of our beLOVEd-ness? In conclusion, God is queer and happy 💜🤍🖤 #AceWeek
