Big crowd gathering at Malcolm X park in West Philly this evening following Monday’s police-involved shooting/death of Walter Wallace Jr.

Groups of police are scattered on every block down 52nd Street. The crowd at the park continues to grow and the scene is currently peaceful, with people taking turns giving speeches.

A Foot Locker was among the stores raided last night. 52nd Street is quiet and most stores are closed...Malcolm X park is just down the street from where the shooting occurred.

Protesters are breaking out into fights, as some want to go in a different direction

Police are following this crowd as they march and chant “every city, every town, burn the precincts to the ground.”

This group has reached a barrier and a LOT of police. There’s a precinct up the road — I assume they are blocking that off

This standoff remains tense but not violent in this area — both sides holding. I’ve seen police take away one individual, but didn’t see what prompted the arrest.

Looting and destruction continues across the street at the Dollar Tree. There’s simply not enough officers, and people keep arriving in cars to loot

People are pulling up in cars, sprinting into stores to loot and zipping back out of the parking lots
