WAIT JUST ONE DAMNED MINUTE HERE.

Are you telling me that this entire thing with lawyers and cease and desists and ethics complaints got going because Addison didn’t respect the HEA?!?! https://twitter.com/thelindsayellis/status/1321185598871236608
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but IN GENERAL when someone markets a book as romance and the protagonists die at the end, you don’t need to posit one person with a hundred sockpuppets.

Just one hundred romance readers who hate being lied to.
Okay, so ACCORDING TO ADDISON who is perhaps not the best source for other people’s motives, this reader got so mad that Addison killed her protagonists that when she DMCAed Zoey Ellis, the reader (also an attorney) was like, sure, Zoey, I will represent you!
AMAZING IF TRUE.

DON’T CALL YOUR BOOK ROMANCE IF IT DOESN’T HAVE AN HEA.
I mean, HUGE props to that attorney if this story is true. HUGE.
This needs to be repurposed as a cautionary tale to authors who want romance dollars without the HEA.
For the record, the above screenshots are from a complaint to a STATE BAR ASSOCIATION claiming that it is violation of legal ethics for a lawyer/reader to get pissed off about a book she didn’t like.

Pro tip: It is not a violation of legal ethics.
