Years ago in The Way Back, Brandon wrote a column called AMBIDEXTROUS, and in addition to his intelligence and candor, he mentioned an idea he had for a character, a Black Woman Science Hero.

When I was blessed to have the opportunity to edit comics for a pre-BOOM! Studios ASP Comics / ARCHAIA, and I was given the go ahead to acquire creator-owned titles, Brandon was the first person I called, and one year later came THE MANY ADVENTURES OF MIRANDA MERCURY.

The series was collected, and it had the heart and aspiration and intellgence of its author. His AMBIDEXTROUS column showed me that candor in commentary had value, that passionate feeling was not a negative, and it inspired me to write THE MISSION for @CBR

When I was blessed with the opportunity to shepherd the multicultural, innovative superhero universe called CATALYST PRIME for Lion Forge, I needed a writer for the flagship title, and Brandon was the first person I called.

The book was called NOBLE, and I asked Brandon to "write the SUPERMAN story that's in you, which you've been denied.", and he did. He wrote a story about a hero, and family, and Black love, and humanity.

This industry's greatest currency is LOVE. Love of art. Love of the dream. Love of each other. That love comes with struggle. It tests us. Our friendships. Brandon and I have been friends through this industry's apocalyptic times. So when I read he is writing SUPERMAN...

...it choked me up. Because he was always meant to write SUPERMAN. I'm happy for him. I'm happy for the world. More people will see his goodness through a truly good character. I love Brandon Thomas. He is a dear friend, and he earned and deserves this JUSTICE. ALSO and BTW...

If you're not reading EXCELLENCE by Brandon and his team of @kharyrandolph @EMannLand and @deronbennett you are denying yourself something special. EXCELLENCE is The Future. Our ideas are The Future. Love. Hope. The unwillingess to give up. That's Comics. That's us. Who we are.

Love each other. Stand by each other. Fight together. Make great stories, no matter what.
