Today is my latest book& #39;s birthday. It& #39;s weird and perfect and awkward for a lot of reasons... 1/7 https://www.heinemann.com/products/e11247.aspx">https://www.heinemann.com/products/...
For one thing, when I started writing this book, almost immediately after Unstoppable Writing Teacher came out, the world was a very different place. Like, we thought 2015 was a tough year https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Gesicht mit FreudentrĂ€nen" aria-label="Emoji: Gesicht mit FreudentrĂ€nen"> 2/7
For another, finishing a book about mistakes right as a global pandemic and election cycle hit, fed by government, systemic, and individual mistakes, was just a little to on-the-nose for me to not feel like this book is, unintentionally or not, capitalizing on the times 3/7
& this book is the most personal, risk-taking, blood, sweat & tears book I have written. I am sure I made mistakes with it. And yes, the irony of that statement is not lost on me. This whole experience has been very meta. Which I am sure fills you with confidence, dear reader 4/7
And, due to forces out of @HeinemannPub & #39;s control, I don& #39;t actually have a physical copy of my book on it& #39;s birthday. (But, to be fair, I didn& #39;t expect I would - see tweet 3) 5/7
But, I am still very proud of this book. It puts into words ideas I& #39;ve been thinking and studying for a long time. Mistakes happen. They& #39;re not all good. And they& #39;re not all bad. But there is much we can and should do about the ones we make and witness. 6/7
So happy book birthday to Risk. Fail. Rise. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đŸ„ł" title="Partying face" aria-label="Emoji: Partying face"> I will be sharing more in the next few weeks. I hope if you read it you let me know what you think because this book, more than any of my others, is meant to be a dialogue.
