NOTE: most figure skaters rotate counterclockwise <this thread is for counterclockwise jumps>
NOTE: all jumps land on the right back outside edge (RBO)
—Right: right foot
—Back: travelling backwards
—Outside: skates face away from each other

—TOE JUMPS:
i) toe loop (T)
—usually entered from a turn or as the 2nd/3rd jump in a combo
—left leg reaches back
—strike the ice with the LEFT toe pick
NOTE: in ladies skating, it is almost always used as the 2nd/3rd jump in a combo, never on it’s own except for a 4T

—TOE JUMPS:
i) toe loop (T)
NOTE: for mens, the top loop is a common quad and is used in many combos as the 2nd/3rd jump

—TOE JUMPS:
ii) flip (F)
—usually entered from a turn (left foot on ice)
—left back INSIDE edge (may be a shallow inside edge)
—strike the ice with the RIGHT toe pick
NOTE: 3F common for both, only a few men perform 4F

—strike the ice with the RIGHT toe pick

—TOE JUMPS:
ii) flip (F)
NOTE: a characteristic of flip jumps is to swing the right foot while doing the turn

iii) lutz (L)
—usually entered from a longer, straight backwards glide
—left back OUTSIDE edge
—strike the ice with RIGHT toe pick

—left back OUTSIDE edge
—strike the ice with RIGHT toe pick
—TOE JUMPS
iii) lutz (L)
NOTE: a characteristic of lutz jumps are gradually deepening the outside edge on the gliding foot
NOTE: skaters who make the mistake of a left INSIDE edge often switch to the INSIDE edge just before takeoff
NOTE: 3lz common for both, 4Lz hardest quad

i) salchow (S)
—usually entered from a turn
—sweeping motion of the blades
—legs in a 八 position
—takes off from left blade

NOTE: 3S is common for both ladies and men, 4S one of the most common quads

ii) loop (Lo)
—usually entered with a turn
–legs in an “X” position
—skater briefly “sits” down before launching into the jump
—right foot OUTSIDE edge
NOTE: can be used as the 2nd/3rd jump in combos but is rare because of difficulty
>GIF IS WRONG

• EDGE JUMPS
iii) axel (A)
—usually entered with a long glide backwards
—look over left shoulder
—left foot steps forward, draw back arms, and jump
—only jump that takes off forward

—only jump that takes off forward
• EDGE JUMPS
iii) axel (A)
—the axel lands backwards thus it has an additional half rotation (eg. the 4A is 4.5 rotations)
NOTE: standards are 2A for women and 3A for men

Euler (1Eu)
—Base value 0.50
