Last night, our new neighbor (HS FR) came over to shoot some hoops in our driveway

I asked him how 1st day of tryouts went

He told me he made a cpl shots & missed a lay up he should have made

It affirmed what Ive come to learn about how most plyrs look at their performance
👇
Plyrs:
When trying out or trying to make an impression on coaches or going to a showcase in front of college coaches, some things that will have a much bigger return on your time, energy & investment:

Things to focus on 👇
Focus on:
🏀being the hardest worker in gym. That means sprint floor, not jog
🏀introducing yourself by full name, look in 👁(no one does this. You stand out immediately)
🏀play aggressive on ball defense
🏀be the best communicator in drills & on defense
🏀go after every rebound
Your game is your game by the time tryouts come. You can’t start becoming a good shooter or ball handler during the tryout

But, You can absolutely control & Be the stuff listed above.

Stop focusing on every shot you take and be a competitor & great teammate. That will stand out
Now, if you do all these things but your skill level is so far behind & U can’t play at all, you probably aren’t making the team or an impression

Then you’ve got to decide if you willing to put in the work

I played with & coached kids that didn’t make 9th gr but played college
