Universal childcare is a policy that tells stay-at-home parents that they are worthless to society.
Just give parents money.
Bernie Sanders's free childcare plan would cost $150 billion per year. For that cost, you could provide parents $500 per month for each child aged 0 to 5. Parents could choose to use it on childcare, or spend it elsewhere if they or other family members can care for the child.
If you think these policies should go beyond age 5, sounds good to me we should also have a child allowance for older kids, but Bernie's $150B free childcare plan is just age 0-3 plus pre-K.

And if you think $500/month isn't sufficient:
1. It is in poorer places. https://twitter.com/MaxGhenis/status/1321309684184305667
2. Do you think $0 is sufficient for stay at home parents? That's what Bernie's plan provides.
3. I'd want it to be bigger, this is benchmarking a plan viewed as "generous."
