October is #BullyingPreventionMonth
The issue of #bullying is one that is prevalent in many communities and #Muslim communities are no exception.
đź’ In America, 20% of students between the ages of 12 to 18 reported they experienced bullying ( http://stopbullying.gov ). Bullying occurs in various ways such as physically, verbally, as well as cyberbullying.
#Bullying is when one oppresses another to assert dominance or to feel better about themselves. However, this can lead to the victim experiencing shame, loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anxiety, depression, and potentially suicidal ideation.
đź“– Our words and actions matter and have an immediate impact on those around us. Let's take a look at our Beloved, Muhammad (S) who exhausted himself in his #kindness and #respect for others.
Although a leader of many and facing persecution from his enemies, He (S) never stopped #loving and showing kindness to those around him, regardless of their unique identities (race, ethnicity, age, gender).
If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a trusted family member or friend. In serious cases please contact 911. Let's use this thread to spread #awareness of this issue and help protect our youth! #BullyingPreventionMonth
🙏🏽 We pray that everyone is safe and that the love ♥ we have for each other remains strong and long-lasting.
