Yesterday I was finally diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I finally made it to a doctor who did an ultrasound on me instead of just taking blood samples. Now, I have to be on the birth control pill, which I have been on twice before in my life.
1st time on BC: late high school. I developed an eating disorder. First time my period went 9 months without happening. Doctor did everything to except check me for PCOS. I broke up with my long time boyfriend bc I could do nothing but watch Lifetime movies.
2nd time on BC: Mid-Freshman thru Junior year. Still so irregular. Doctor did blood test, said I didn't have PCOS but had high testosterone and taking the pill will help regulate. Met with a therapist the first time, had to be put on an SSRI after I thought about killing myself.
Keep in mind. I didnt need the SSRI after I STOPPED taking the pill. I still had irregular periods and no one thought to check it out. I was in college, ~the stress~ is why I needed an SSRI and since I was having sex I needed the pill.
If by chance you're on the pill and don't know that there are other options, I implore you to look them up. If you're on the pill and wonder why you aren't doing so great, I suggest speaking with a doctor about dosage.
The health care system in this country is awful. It took ten years for someone to properly diagnose me with this. The access to be able to better this diagnosis is slim pickings.
Worst part????? I can't do shit if I lose my sex drive and my orgasms become more muted. I will flip a lid. You all know just how important this specific issue is for me (sorry) (not really)
